EDUCATION

You have probably seen the video of  Malala, a brave girl fighting for her rights. However, social differences in terms of education also happen within the same country, even the same town. Here, it is an example of such differences. These two boys study in the same town, but obviously in different schools, listen to them.

SOCIAL PROBLEMS

Nowadays, we are living in a very fragile society and I really think that this is due to the enormous differences between the rich and the poor, those who have too much and those who hardly ever have to survive. Poverty is one of the main reasons that can lead to illiteracy, because filling your stomach is before filling your mind. Without education a country is sunk deep into darkness and its citizens can be easily manipulated by the powerful, the resources are sold out for very little and the future is gloomy and hopeless .
In some countries, girls are not allowed to attend school, this is a story of a girl who was shot in the head for the mere fact of defending the rights of the girls in her country, Pakistan, to study.

The Legend of Saint George

Once upon a time, there was a big, horrible dragon frightening everyone in a little village in Catalonia. Once every month, he went to the village to eat someone. As people didn’t want to be eaten, they all decided to offer the dragon some animals like sheep and cows to avoid the death.

One day, the dragon woke up with the wish of eating something better and he said the king of the village that, the following day, he would eat some person.  The king, terrified, asked the dragon who will die and the dragon just answered: ‘You will decide this’.
The king gathered all the people in the village in front of the castle and told them all what the dragon had told him. Everybody decided to do a draw to choose the person who will die. That night, everybody was waiting for the result in the square of the village. Then, the king took out of a bag a little paper with a name written on it:

      The princess.
Although they didn’t want the princess to die, she was the chosen one. The next day, the king and queen said goodbye to their daughter and then, the princess started to walk to the dragon’s cave. Suddenly, when the dragon started walking towards the princess, a knight called Saint George appeared.
He fought against the dragon and fortunately, he killed the dragon with his lance. At the time, from the blood that the dragon spilled, it appeared a rose. The knight gave the princess the rose and asked her to marry him. She said yes and came back to the village knowing that she would be with Saint George, loving one another, forever and ever.

CHEER UP!

NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED

Let me start this new blog with an English proverb, whose Spanish equivalent would be something like ... quien no se arriesga no cruza el mar and this saying goes for those students who are considering the idea of throwing in the towel because they don´t think they will pass English, those who have already thrown it, please pick it up again and ... the rest, who may think that the course is almost over and they are tempted to relax a little. Please don´t relax now!.
This is like a football match, it isn´t finished till the referee blows his whisle off. Actually, this is what I´d like you to do, don´t give up this particular "match", no matter how difficult things seem.
If you never try, you´ll never know what could have happened.
BE OPTIMISTIC, BE HAPPY.
